Stepping Stones seeks to foster a community that prevents hunger, homelessness and
isolation throughout Dunn County through its three programs.

FOOD PANTRY

The Food Pantry provides food and personal care items to people in need and is currently averaging 1,400 visits per month. Stepping Stones also has “mini” outreach pantries in rural Dunn County communities to serve at-risk seniors and individuals with disabilities.

SHELTERS

The Stepping Stones Shelters provide emergency shelter, housing assistance, and referral services. Winter Haven operates November 15 through May 31. We are currently seeking volunteers for Winter Haven.

COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS

The Community Connections Program connects volunteers to people needing support services and provides direct assistance to people in emergency financial need as funds are available.

Statistically Speaking

Average visits to the Food Pantry per month in 2016. That’s an average of 57 families per day, six days a week, nearly 80% of whom are living at or below poverty level and the rest very close.

Nights of shelter provided in 2016 at either one of the Stepping Stones Shelters or at a local motel for short-term stays when the shelters are full. This is an increase of over 20% from 2015.

Individuals and families who received over $31,000 in emergency financial assistance for rent, heat, electrical bills, fuel and clothing and critical needs in 2016.

The Stepping Stones Newsletter is a vital communication tool that lets the community know about all of the great work that is done each quarter by Stepping Stones Volunteers, Board, and Staff. You can read the most current information on the Food Pantry including number of people served and many organizations that have donated. There is data about the Stepping Stones Shelters and those we have assisted. Community Connection volunteer support—both financial and direct aid—are detailed. And, of course, each issue includes the very popular Gifts & Memorials section.
