Pop-Up Food Pantry

Our "pop-up" pantries help food-insecure households throughout rural Dunn County who lack transportation or access to the food pantry services in Menomonie.

Fresh produce, meat, dry goods, and dairy is distributed in pre-packaged boxes 1-2 times/month.

See Pop-Up Schedule.

Senior Commodity

We distribute monthly Senior Commodity Boxes to low-income seniors at risk for food insecurity. CSFP  (Commodity Supplemental Food Program) aims to supplement seniors (60+) with nutritious food.

These meal boxes typically include canned fruit or gennies, a protein, grains, and dairy.

SAM Bags

Project SAM (Share-A-Meal) is our weekend kid's meal program. Similar to "backpack" programs throughout the country, bags of ready-to-eat and easy to prepare food is provided to school children at risk of hunger on the weekends.

Our Shelters

Stepping Stones has three fully-furnished shelters - two homes with a combined 5 apartments for families, and the Cairn House, a 20-bed shelter for individuals.

During their stay, generally 6-8 weeks, residents work closely with shelter staff t:

  • Secure permanent and affordable housing

  • Find or maintain employment

  • Pursue educational goals

  • Access resources to become self-sufficient

As funds are available, Stepping Stones provides housing assistance for rent and security deposits as well as referrals to low-income housing options.
